Every course from grade 6 through calculus
Middle school math
Fractions, ratios, negative numbers and the first equations: the foundation every later course depends on.
Algebra 1 and Algebra 2
Equations, functions, graphs and word problems, taught until your student can explain each step.
Geometry and trigonometry
Proofs, triangles, circles and the unit circle, with clear diagrams and reasons, not memorized rules.
Precalculus and calculus
Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, IB Mathematics at SL and HL, and the math sections of the SAT and ACT.
Most math trouble starts one course earlier than it shows.
A student who struggles with quadratics is often missing something from fractions or negative numbers. The first lesson is a short diagnostic that finds that gap, so we fix the cause rather than redoing homework.
Diagnose first
A short diagnostic shows where understanding is strong and where it breaks.
Teach to the gap
Lessons rebuild the missing step, then connect it to what the class is doing now.
Practice that sticks
Short practice sets between lessons, checked and explained the following week.
Free study guides
Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry guides written for my students, free to every family.
Questions first. Then answers that last.
Wonder
Begin with a real question. Curiosity is the engine, so every topic starts with why it matters.
Probe
Find the exact gap. Diagnostic questions show where understanding breaks, not just which answers were wrong.
Build
Connect each idea to the last one. Students explain the reasoning in their own words before moving on.
Prove
Apply it under test conditions. Timed practice shows what has truly stuck, and sets the next lesson.

I grew up in Connecticut, graduated from Hopkins School, and studied Economics and Mathematics at Columbia and mathematics at City College, where I was a student researcher. I am now at Harvard Extension School in computer science, moving to the joint master's in Data Science and AI.
I am a three-time Connecticut state foil champion, and I spent 17 years running New York restaurants, nine as an owner. Both taught me what I teach students: preparation beats nerves. My Connecticut Department of Education background check is on file.
Math Tutor in Fairfield County and Bridgeport, CT: the details
What grades and courses do you tutor in math?
Grades 6 to 12: middle school math, Algebra 1 and 2, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, AP Calculus AB, IB Mathematics at SL and HL, and SAT and ACT math.
How much does a math tutor cost?
Online one-to-one lessons start at $75 an hour. In-person lessons in Fairfield County are $140 an hour. Pairs start at $55 and groups of up to three at $40 an hour per student. From January, Bridgeport families pay a Neighbor Rate of $55 private, $45 in a pair or $35 in a group.
Do you come to our home?
Yes, on Saturdays and Sundays between 9am and 12pm, in towns on the Metro-North New Haven Line from Bridgeport to Greenwich, plus New Canaan, Weston, Easton and Redding. Lessons can also be held at a local library.
My child is failing math. Is it too late?
Rarely. The first lesson finds the exact gap, and most students feel the difference within a few weeks of steady lessons. I will give you an honest written estimate after the diagnostic.
Can you help with homework as well as tests?
Yes. Lessons follow your student's class, so homework, quizzes and unit tests all get support, alongside the deeper gaps.
How will I know it is working?
Every student begins with a diagnostic and written goals. You can choose a written progress report after every four sessions, compared with that baseline.
