The IB rewards reasoning. Memorized steps run out quickly.
IB papers ask students to explain, justify and apply ideas in unfamiliar settings. That is exactly what the Curiosity Method trains: students explain the reasoning in their own words before we move on.
One tutor, every lesson
Your student works with me throughout. I learn how they think, and lessons build on each other.
Taught to the syllabus
Lessons follow your student's course and school calendar, with practice in the style of IB papers.
Academic honesty
I coach the thinking behind coursework and internal assessments. The work stays the student's own, within IB rules.
Parents kept informed
A diagnostic and written goals at the start, and an optional written progress report after every four sessions.
Mathematics first, with the sciences alongside.

IB Mathematics, SL and HL
Analysis and Approaches, and Applications and Interpretation, at Standard and Higher Level: algebra, functions, trigonometry and the foundations for calculus.
IB Chemistry and Physics, SL
Standard Level. Core concepts, calculation practice and data-based questions.
MYP mathematics and sciences
Strong foundations before the Diploma, plus help planning and managing the ePortfolio.
GCSE mathematics
Foundation and Higher tier: building secure fundamentals, then exam technique.
Exam preparation
Timed past-paper style practice in the months before the May or November session.
Questions first. Then answers that last.
Wonder
Begin with a real question. Curiosity is the engine, so every topic starts with why it matters.
Probe
Find the exact gap. Diagnostic questions show where understanding breaks, not just which answers were wrong.
Build
Connect each idea to the last one. Students explain the reasoning in their own words before moving on.
Prove
Apply it under test conditions. Timed practice shows what has truly stuck, and sets the next lesson.

Kristen Amendola
I studied Economics and Mathematics at Columbia and mathematics at City College, where I was a student researcher, after graduating from Hopkins School. I am now at Harvard Extension School in computer science, moving to the joint master's in Data Science and AI.
I am a three-time Connecticut state foil champion, and I spent 17 years running New York restaurants, nine as an owner. Both taught me what I teach students: preparation beats nerves. I teach international-school students in Europe every week.
IB tutoring online: the details
Which IB subjects do you tutor?
IB Mathematics, in both Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, along with IB Chemistry and Physics, and MYP mathematics and sciences. Tell me your student's course and level at the consultation and I will say honestly whether I am the right fit.
Can you help with the internal assessment?
I help students understand the criteria, choose a workable topic, and think clearly about their method and analysis. I do not write or edit the work itself. It must be the student's own under IB academic honesty rules.
How do online lessons work?
Lessons are on Google Meet with a shared whiteboard. The private link goes to the parent, and a parent is welcome in any session.
When should we start?
The best time is when a gap first shows, because IB topics build on each other. For exam preparation, start at least three to four months before the session.
What does IB tutoring cost?
One-to-one STEM coaching starts from €55 an hour in Europe, $75 in the US and £50 in the UK. Pairs start from €42 per student ($55, £38) and groups of up to three from €32 per student ($40, £28).
What time zones do you teach in?
I teach students in Europe and the United States. The booking calendar shows available times in your own time zone.
